Accor hotels has halted planned openings as well as future developments in Russia as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement the company, which has 57 properties in Russia, said it has also suspended “loyalty partnerships with Russian counter-parties” and is complying with the sanctions put in place by the EU, US and UK.
“All management, booking, distribution, loyalty and procurement services to hotels for which owners are included on these lists of sanctions are suspended,” it added.
Accor said it is continuing to operate in Russia to support its 3,500 employees and local communities.
The France-based hotel giant said it is one of the largest operators in the region with properties in Ukraine, Hungary, Poland and Moldova.
Accor's planned openings in Russia in 2022 included a Novotel in Moscow, an Ibis Styles in Kogalym and a Movenpick Resort and spa in Anapa Miracleon.
Meanwhile, Marriott International said it has closed its corporate office in Moscow and is also halting upcoming openings and all future development and investment in Russia.
A company statement said: "We have been closely monitoring the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, Russia and neighbouring countries, and remain in regular contact with our teams on the ground, as we work to comply with sanctions and applicable laws. Our hotels in Russia are owned by third parties and we continue to evaluate the ability for these hotels to remain open."
A statement from Holiday Inn-parent IHG said it was also "suspending future investments and development activity" and closing its office in Moscow.
