Friday night saw nearly 1,000 industry colleagues gather at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London for the 27th annual Business Travel Awards Europe 2022, where the winners across 22 categories were announced.
The black tie event, organised by the BTN Group, included a welcome Champagne reception and entertainment from the London Community Gospel Choir, followed by a three-course gala dinner and awards ceremony, hosted by TV presenter, comedian and magician Stephen Mulhern.
The awards celebrated the corporate travel industry’s successes and achievements over the past year as the industry made a rapid recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Entries were received from organisations, large and small, new and long-established, from across Europe. They were assessed by an independent panel of judges, made up of 25 experienced travel managers, who were impressed by the high calibre and quality of the entries.
Among the big winners were Eloise Ferrara-Neched from Royal Mail, who was named Travel Buyer of the Year, and Google Global Travel Team and American Express Global Business Travel, who took home the award for Travel Team of the Year.
Airline giant Lufthansa Group was named as the winner of the Achievement in Environmental Sustainability category and car rental firm Enterprise received the Achievement in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion award.
Among the TMC winners were Agiito, which secured both the Travel Partner of the Year - National TMC award and Account Management of the Team of the Year. Key Travel won Travel Partner of the Year - European TMC, and FCM Travel claimed Travel Partner of the Year - Global TMC.
TripActions was the winner in the Technology Innovation - Payments & Expenses category, while American Express Meetings and Events took home the Travel Partner of the Year - Meetings & Events Solution prize.
In the airline categories, British Airways scooped the Travel Partner of the Year - Short-haul Airline award, and Delta won the Travel Partner of the Year – Long-haul Airline category.
Other winners on the night included Frasers Hospitality, 3Sixty, Enterprise/National, Sixt Ride, Blackline, train operator LNER, Nomadic, Amadeus, Cvent and IHG Hotels & Resorts.
