Advito, the consulting arm of travel management company BCD Travel, has created a new environmental quality service index for buyers to use during negotiations with airlines.
The sustainability index, known as eQSI, creates a fair market share (FMS) calculation that takes aircraft efficiency into account.
Advito originally created its own quality service index (QSI) to “combat the carrier-centric FMS data typically provided by airlines”. It has now gone further by also taking aircraft environmental performance into account through eQSI.
Julien Etchanchu, Advito’s sustainable collaboration practice lead, explained: “Aircraft performance is an objective input; we know that newer aircraft emit less CO2 than older models.
“Using that data, now we’re able to concretely factor environmental impact into negotiations and use predictive analytics to calculate future scores as well.”
Advito’s new eQSI will award a higher market share to airlines using a newer generation fleet of aircraft.
“One of the four pillars of building a sustainable business travel programme is to source sustainable suppliers, added Etchanchu.
“Our new eQSI, refreshed monthly, is the best tool in a travel manager’s arsenal to begin looking at sustainability while building their programme, rather than waiting until contracts are in place to get started.”
