Guernsey’s flagship carrier, Aurigny, will commence twice daily flights to London City Airport (LCY) on 31 March.
Guernsey, an international finance centre, is an hour's flight from the capital. The airline will operate a day and evening flight to and from LCY, with three daily flights on a Friday.
Andrew Hodges, chief commercial officer, London City Airport, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Aurigny as the first new airline at London City Airport this year – demonstrating our commitment to growing as a business and offering new destinations to our passengers.”
Nico Bezuidenhout, CEO at Aurigny, said: “Guernsey
is a tourist destination and an international finance centre. Many
businesses on our beautiful island work closely with colleagues and
clients in London and direct flights to London's beating heart will also
benefit anyone who wishes to explore the city’s many attractions.”
Those travelling from the island to London City will also benefit from Aurigny’s interline agreement with British Airways CityFlyer (BACF), meaning they can connect to BA’s network from the airport including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin and Zurich.
