Former Brussels Airlines’ CEO Peter Gerber has been appointed as boss of German carrier Condor Airlines.
Gerber succeeds Ralf Teckentrup at Condor who stepped down at the end of December after nearly 20 years as the airline’s CEO.
Condor last year launched a business class cabin and announced expansion plans. The carrier is currently owned by private equity firm Attestor after previously being part of Thomas Cook Group until its demise in 2019.
Gerber, who started his career at Lufthansa Group in 1992, had been CEO at Brussels Airlines from March 2021 to February 2023 when he stepped down.
“I am very pleased to be taking over the management of Condor,” said Gerber. “Under Ralf Teckentrup’s leadership, the company has overcome existential crises in recent years and at the same time set an important course for the future.
“The fleet change to the most modern fleet in Europe was initiated, many new employees were hired, and extensive investments were initiated, for example in IT and digitalisation.
“We will continue this transformation together in order to lay the foundations for successful long-term growth.”
