Spanish airline Iberia will completely restore its international network this summer, with increased flight frequencies to Latin America, the US and Europe.
The carrier has scheduled some 280 weekly flights between its Madrid hub and 16 Latin American countries during the summer 2023 season, marking a two per cent increase in operations compared to 2019 levels.
This will include three daily flights to Mexico, 18 weekly flights to Bogota from June (with a plan to increase to three daily flights from November) and, also from June, increasing frequencies to Lima from seven to 10 weekly flights.
The carrier will also operate two daily flights to Buenos Aires, six weekly flights to the Ecuadorian capital Quito, and daily flights to Santiago de Chile, as well as three weekly flights to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and seven flights per week to Sao Paulo.
In the Caribbean, Havana will have five frequencies from September, Santo Domingo will consolidate its pre-pandemic operation with a daily flight, and Puerto Rico will reach six weekly frequencies in July and August.
Iberia's commercial, network and alliances director, María Jesús López-Solás, said this year the carrier will "go further" to increase its presence in Latin America and support the role of Madrid airport as a "bridge" between Europe and Latin America.
Meanwhile, summer routes to the US will also be restored. The carrier will operate three weekly frequencies to San Francisco from May to October and will fly four times per week to Washington DC from April to October. Flights to Dallas will also become daily from June.
The carrier said it has scheduled nearly 20 per cent more flights to the US than in 2019, including twice daily flights to New York and Miami, five weekly flights to Los Angeles (from May to October) and daily flights to Chicago (from March to December) and Boston (April to October).
The carrier also plans to increase frequencies across its short- and medium-haul network. This will see flights to Milan increase to five times daily, 37 weekly flights to Rome, 25 weekly flights to Venice, four daily flights to Dusseldorf and 10 weekly flights to Stockholm (from July).
Seasonal routes to leisure destinations in Croatia, Greece and Portugal will also return this summer.
