Icelandair will add frequencies to several routes for its winter 2023-24 season, which begins in October.
The Nordic carrier plans to convert several routes from seasonal to year-round services, which will help to raise capacity by 20-25 per cent compared to the current winter schedule.
The carrier is upgrading five routes from seasonal to year-round, including flights between Reykjavik and the European destinations of Barcelona and Rome, which operate three times per week. Flights from Reykjavik to Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham and Vancouver will also become year-round routes.
In another move, Icelandair is adding flights during daytime hours to New York and Boston, increasing weekly flights to each US city to up to 21 and 11 respectively next winter.
Frequencies will also increase to Chicago (five to seven weekly flights), Minneapolis (four to seven weekly flights) and Munich (daily flights), while services to Prague will be extended until 5 January with two flights per week in November and December 2023.
Tomas Ingason, Icelandair’s chief revenue officer, said: “Due to strong customer demand, we are now introducing our most extensive winter schedule to date.
“We have been able to extend previously seasonal routes to year-round services and increase frequencies on other routes throughout the network for the winter 2023/24 season.”
