ITA Airways and Mexican carrier Aeromexico have inked a codeshare agreement with reciprocal benefits across both airlines’ loyalty programmes.
The deal will allow travellers on Aeromexico’s Mexico City–Rome route to connect to 15 destinations in Italy via ITA’s Rome Fiumicino hub, while customers of the latter will be able to access 28 destinations – such as Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Merida – operated by Aeromexico via Mexico City International Airport.
As well as the ability to book a single ticket across multiple flights, the partnership will extend benefits to members of both carriers’ loyalty programmes. This includes the accrual and redemption of points on flights operated by the carriers, in addition to those already offered to Elite and Elite Plus members of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance. Top-tier members of Aeromexico Rewards and ITA’s Volare loyalty programmes will also be granted lounge access, additional baggage allowances and priority boarding.
Including the deal with Aeromexico, ITA Airways has established 36 codeshare agreements since launching in 2021. The nascent Italian carrier was also recently acquired by German airline group Lufthansa.
