KLM is to double the number of flights to Asia as part of its summer 2023 schedule compared with last year’s capacity to the region.
The Dutch airline is taking advantage of major destinations such as China and Japan easing their Covid-19 travel restrictions to bolster its long-haul operation to the Far East.
KLM’s summer schedule, which starts on Sunday (26 March), will feature 16 destinations in Asia, including daily services from Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Beijing and Shanghai, plus flights to Hong Kong three times a week and twice-weekly services to Taipei, via Incheon airport in South Korea.
Services to Japan will include twice weekly flights to Osaka, via Incheon, while three flights to Tokyo Narita also travel via the South Korean airport – another two weekly flights to Tokyo will operate non-stop from Schiphol to Japan.
KLM will serve a total of 163 destinations this summer, including 96 European airports and 67 intercontinental routes.
In Europe, KLM is adding a route to Rennes in Brittany and extending its winter service to Nantes into the summer schedule. Other changes include increasing flights to Toronto from 10 per week in 2022 to 13 per week this summer.
KLM's new Premium Comfort class will also be “increasingly available” on long-haul flights, including on services to New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Austin, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary.
