UK regional airline Loganair is set to expand domestic services from London Heathrow, with increased frequencies to Shetland, Orkney, Isle of Man and City of Derry as part of its summer 2024 schedule.
The carrier from 31 March will introduce a second Saturday service to the Isle of Man and a third Sunday flight to City of Derry, as well as improved flight times on both routes to London Heathrow.
The airline also announced the return in early March of twice weekly one-stop same plane services to Kirkwall on Orkney.
A revised afternoon service from Derry will depart at 11:45 and arrive at Heathrow’s Terminal 2 at 13:15, while the evening service from Derry will depart 40 minutes earlier at 17:30 and arrive in London at 19:00. Meanwhile, evening flights from Heathrow will leave at 19:45 and arrive in Derry at 21:10, some 35 minutes earlier than currently.
The carriers said the schedule changes will open up a wider range of same-day connections to North America without having to spend "several hours" at the airport between connections.
The airline's daily route from the Isle of Man to Heathrow will also depart at the earlier time of 9:45 and arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 2 at 11:20.
Loganair chief commercial officer, Luke Lovegrove, said: “Our routes to Heathrow have gone from strength to strength since we started our services from T2 last April and, with both the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express rapid connections linking Heathrow with central London, the improvements to flight times assure a full working day in London.
“We continue to fly to and from some of the most remote destinations in the country, and this summer will provide unrivalled regional connectivity for these areas, led by customer demand,” he added.
