Qatar Airways has announced new routes from the French cities of Lyon and Toulouse to Doha as part of a major expansion of its schedule in summer 2023.
In another move, the airline is resuming services from a third destination in France, Nice, as well as from Birmingham in the UK. There will also be frequency increases for 21 existing routes between Europe and Doha, including extra flights from the London airports of Heathrow and Gatwick, plus Athens, Berlin, Madrid and Milan.
Qatar Airways’ group chief executive Akbar Al Baker announced the addition of more than 655 weekly flights in summer 2023 during a press conference at the ITB Berlin trade show.
“We are excited to offer more ways of bringing the world together, increasing connectivity and bridging gaps within the travel industry,” said Al Baker.
“As we expand our fleet, network, partnerships and international presence we look forward to working together to deliver sustainable growth and a compelling future for the industry.
“We continue to look forward to our bright future here in Qatar, with multiple projects lined up for 2023 and beyond, such as the Formula 1 partnership.”
Qatar is also looking to make the most of the publicity generated by hosting the FIFA World Cup football tournament at the end of 2022.
