Travel tech firm Sabre and rail specialist Trainline Partner Solutions have agreed a deal to provide more European rail content.
The partnership will introduce more multinational rail to the Sabre Rail platform, including content from Italian train operators Trenitalia and Italo, as well as SBB Switzerland and Deutsche Bahn in Germany.
This content will be “focused on international distribution” and will only be available outside the rail companies’ home markets.
Charlie Baikie, head of commercial at Trainline Partner Solutions, said: “Demand for train journeys is on the rise and we believe this trend will only accelerate in the coming years.
“Enabling travel agents to offer their customers more rail content simply and seamlessly will be highly beneficial in improving customer satisfaction, driving revenue and encouraging more sustainable travel choices.”
Sabre Rail allows agencies to search, book and service train tickets, as well as building multi-modal itineraries combining air and rail travel.
The new agreement with Trainline “significantly expands the content” available through Sabre Rail, added Sabre in a statement.
Chinmai Sharma, global head of lodging, ground and sea at Sabre Travel Solutions, said: “There are numerous reasons for travellers to choose train journeys, from productivity and comfort considerations to environmental concerns to cost efficiency.
“Through this collaboration, we are enabling our travel agents to effectively respond to evolving consumer expectations and deliver even better service and enhanced content to their customers.”
