Germany-based
car rental company Sixt has agreed to purchase up to 250,000 vehicles
by 2026 from manufacturer Stellantis, with the first deliveries to take
place "as early as the first quarter of 2024".
The value of the deal was disclosed only as a "multi-billion
euro agreement."
The vehicle types will include a range across
Stellantis' brands, including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS
Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, Vauxhall and
Maserati, and will be used in Sixt's rental fleet in its corporate countries across Europe and North America over the next three years.
The
Sixt deliveries also will include electric vehicles, which aligns with its goal to decrease the
CO2
footprint of its rental fleet and reach a share
of 70-90 per cent electrified vehicles in Europe by 2030.
Stellantis is on track to become a carbon net
zero corporation by 2038, all scopes included, with single-digit
percentage compensation of remaining emissions.
Konstantin Sixt, co-CEO of Sixt said: “We
are very much looking forward to welcoming a large number of exciting
vehicles of iconic Stellantis brands to our fleet. This agreement with a
progressive, full-range partner underscores our promise to provide our
customers with the best choice for all their mobility needs."
Sixt went on to say the deal will enable the car rental company to "accelerate our growth strategy" across European countries but also the US, which is the largest rental market in the world.
The company achieved global revenue growth of almost 20 per cent in the first nine
months of 2023.
