United Airlines plans to operate its “largest-ever” transatlantic summer schedule in 2024, with non-stop flights to 38 cities in Europe.
The carrier will launch a service between Newark Liberty International and Faro in southern Portugal on 24 May, becoming the “first and only airline to directly connect” the US with Faro, according to United. The flight will operate four times weekly using Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
United is also resuming a seasonal route on 23 May between Newark and Reykjavik, Iceland, which last operated in summer 2022, using Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
In addition, the carrier will add second daily flights between Newark and Brussels on 30 March and Washington Dulles-Rome from 23 May. Services between Newark and Malaga, Spain, will increase frequency to daily on 2 May.
United is also starting “summer” services earlier on certain routes, including on the routes from Washington Dulles to Lisbon, Barcelona and Rome from 15 February.
Seasonal services between Newark and Nice in France will start on 30 March, which is also when flights from Chicago to both Rome and Milan will begin. The Newark-Naples service will start on 5 April, while San Francisco-Rome begins on 2 May.
Away from the transatlantic network, United plans to increase its Latin American and Caribbean schedule next summer by 10 per cent, including new services from Denver to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Montego Bay, Jamaica, and from Newark to Barbados and Curaçao.
