Vietnam Airlines is to introduce flights from Munich to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City starting in early October.
The Asian carrier will initially operate twice weekly to Hanoi and once per week to Ho Chi Minh City from 2 October. Another weekly flight between Munich and Ho Chi Minh City will be added to the schedule from December.
Vietnam Airlines will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the new routes from Munich offering three classes of travel: business, premium economy and economy.
Munich will become the airline’s fourth European route with services from Frankfurt, London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle already operating.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich airport, said: “The new routes will expand our range of Asian connections and reinforce Munich airport’s position as one of the leading aviation hubs in Europe.
“We are confident that these new direct flights will be very well received by our passengers and help to further enhance economic relations and cultural exchange between Bavaria and Vietnam.”
Vietnam Airlines will operate the Munich-Hanoi route on Monday and Saturday, while services to Ho Chi Minh City will fly on Tuesday from early October, with the extra service being added on Thursday from December.
