Accor’s extended stay brand Adagio Aparthotel is expected to open seven new locations in 2024 as part of its continued expansion in Europe and beyond.
Adagio’s new openings this year will include six properties in Europe, including three in France, one at Brussels airport, one in the German city of Heidelberg, as well as a property in the Whitechapel district of London. There will also be a new location in the Ivory Coast in west Africa.
The aparthotel brand, which is a joint venture with Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs, is also planning five renovation projects during the year.
The continued expansion of Adagio comes after it enjoyed a “very favourable year” in 2023, with more than 1.7 million guests staying at its 130 properties, as its occupancy rate reached 79 per cent. Adagio’s portfolio currently includes 14,626 apartments.
Adagio is targeting further expansion with the goal of reaching 200 aparthotels in 2028. The brand is due to open its first Chinese property in Chengdu Jianyang in 2025.
Xavier Desaulles, CEO of Adagio, said: “All these results underline the relevance of a renewed hotel offer, a hybrid offer – ‘100 per cent apartment, 100 per cent hotel’ - which corresponds to the needs of a balanced clientele between individuals and business travellers, who may particularly desire the idea of feeling ‘at home’ away from home.”
Adagio also wants to take advantage of a series of major sporting events being held in Europe this year, including the Olympics in Paris and the Euro 2024 football tournament in Germany. Sixteen of the brand’s properties have been contracted by the Olympics organising committee.
Other priorities include implementing a “strengthened” energy policy with the target of reducing consumption by 11 per cent this year and a responsible purchasing regime.
