Event management technology company Cvent has acquired UK-based online specialist Venue Directory.
Venue Directory, which was set up in 1993, offers information about meeting venues to the UK’s MICE industry, as well as providing sourcing products such as a dynamic booking module.
Cvent said that the company’s “robust” UK and European venue database would complement the 290,000 hotels and venues already listed on the Cvent Supplier Network. Terms of the deal were not revealed.
Graham Pope, Cvent’s vice president of international sales, said: “We’re extremely proud to bring Venue Directory into the Cvent portfolio.
“With the demand for in-person events continuing to grow, efficient and effective online venue sourcing is top of mind. We are excited about opportunities ahead as we look to expand and enhance our offerings and better support our clients and partners across Europe.”
Venue Directory will continue to operate as a standalone business unit following its acquisition. Cvent said it would provide “additional support and resources” to allow the platform to connect more venues with corporate event planners across Europe.
Michael Begley, Venue Directory’s CEO, added: “By joining a global leader in the event and hospitality technology space, we can tap into their resources, share best practices and deliver more ways for planners and suppliers to better connect and support the MICE ecosystem.”
