Hertfordshire-based EFR Travel Group has announced the acquisition of Scottish TMC WD Travel in a deal that will see the group enter the top 40 corporate travel providers in the UK.
Established in Glasgow 23 years ago, WD Travel offers full-service corporate travel management to clients throughout the UK and overseas from industries such as shipping, advertising, oil and gas, bioscience, entertainment and IT.
The TMC also holds IATA accreditation and ABTA membership.
EFR Travel Group, a member of the Advantage Focus Partnership, comprises a number of specialist companies, including EFR Corporate Travel, Luxury Worldwide Collection, Elegant Golf Resorts, Diamond Jets and Camberley Travel. It acquired Manchester-based CSR Travel last year.
Commenting on the acquisition, Edward Rom, founder and CEO of EFR Travel Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome the WDT team to the EFR family and look forward to working with them to build up their very successful business still further. With their established client base and Scottish heritage, they complement our existing corporate travel businesses EFR Corporate Travel and CSR Travel perfectly.”
George Glen, director of WD Travel, added: “The directors and staff of WDT are excited to be joining the EFR Travel Group, moving on to a new stage in our history. We are looking forward to continued development, growth and prosperity as part of this highly regarded travel company.”
John McEwan, EFR chairman, commented: “As our third acquisition in four years, the addition of WDT to the EFR portfolio is part of our ongoing strategy of growing both organically and through the acquisition of appropriate companies. We now have a fantastic collection of travel businesses, ranging from corporate travel to private jets and luxury tour operators, and we look forward to developing this still further over the coming years.”
