Good Travel Management became the third organisation in two days to announce an acquisition impacting the UK's TMC market – albeit on a different scale to the two deals that went before it.
The Hull-based travel management company, which was ranked 41 in last year’s Leading 50 TMCs, has acquired the customer base and ongoing client servicing activity of West Yorkshire’s Company Travel.
The two TMCs share expertise in serving clients in the engineering, manufacturing, renewables and construction sectors, among others. Good Travel Management, which has been providing travel services for more than 120 years as part of the John Good Group, also specialises in the marine and offshore business.
“The acquisition of Company Travel, following on from our partnership with Altour, membership of Lufthansa City Center and a number of new account wins, has given Good Travel Management an excellent start to 2021,” said Kevin Harrison, the TMC's managing director.
“Despite the challenges that surround the travel sector in general, we anticipate a strong future for both ourselves and our industry as the business travel sector underpins the economic activity of the UK.”
Harrison said acquisitions remain a key part of its strategy.
Kay Collick, owner of Company Travel, said customers “will benefit from the additional services and innovation” provided by Good.
Earlier today, TripActions announced the acquisition of Reed & Mackay – ranked ninth in last year’s Leading 50 TMCs – and yesterday American Express Global Business Travel revealed its intention to acquire Expedia-owned Egencia in a deal that would see two of the UK’s ten largest TMCs join forces.
