Corporate lodging platform HRS has partnered with environmental technology company Squake to provide carbon emissions compensation options for corporate clients, the company announced this week.
Through the partnership, Squake will provide offsetting and compensation options alongside HRS' Green Stay Initiative, which allows HRS users to choose hotels based on sustainability scores calculated by HRS.
The partnership with Squake "empowers lodging programme leaders and their travellers to actively participate in compensating for the share of emissions that can't be reduced in the short term, and to do it the right way," according to an HRS statement.
Among the compensation options Squake lists on its website are reforestation projects and carbon-capture efforts.
"Metrics across the programme will be tracked and compiled monthly to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of emissions reduced and compensated," according to HRS.
Squake's technology, which recently secured a €3.5m funding boost, will extend to all HRS travel and logistics-related emissions, the company said.
