Nearly 70 per cent of companies are using traditional AI and other "new technology" to manage some aspects of business travel, according to card company American Express.
The results, which are part of the latest Amex Trendex report on corporate travel, are based on responses from 501 people responsible for making decisions about their company's business travel programmes.
Two-fifths of respondents said they are now using AI to give them visibility on whether employee expenses are complying with company policy, according to Amex.
Around two-thirds of respondents in the survey said safety and security was a top concern when using AI-based solutions for business travel. This was more than 10 percentage points higher than other factors, such as functionality (56 per cent), training (53 per cent) and the cost of the AI solution (53 per cent).
“Booking travel and managing expenses can be timely and costly for businesses, and technology is helping them make fast, more informed decisions on what matters most: delivering a safe, secure, and smooth traveller experience,” added Aliya Bokhari, senior vice president at American Express.
