French rail operator SNCF Voyageurs has partnered with aviation technology specialist SITA to integrate back-office activities with partner airlines.
SITA has upgraded its API-based tool to replace its existing solution that helps airlines and rail operators provide train and rail services to customers.
The upgraded solution improves the check-in process across 20 train stations where a 'Train + Air' service is offered.
It also enables SNCF Voyageurs to receive and send passenger information from and to partner airlines such as a confirmation that a passenger has boarded the train and is on their way.
Christophe Pouille, Train + Air product manager at SNCF Voyageurs, said: “As we see a strong rail and air travel recovery, SITA has been crucial in delivering a user-friendly and quickly deployable solution ensuring a smooth journey across SNCF and our airline partners. Its ease of use enables our agents to offer a smoother travel experience.”
Sergio Colella, SITA president for Europe, said: “Increasingly, travellers are demanding a more digitally integrated journey where each step of the journey – whether by plane, train, or ship – is seamlessly linked.”
Earlier this month, Swiss International Airlines announced it was extending its partnership with SBB Swiss Federal Railways to enable an air-rail connection between Zurich Airport and Munich's central train station.
