Carbon emissions platform Squake and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producer Neste have formed a strategic partnership in an effort to boost SAF adoption in the business travel industry.
The partnership will enable businesses to purchase Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel via the Squake platform.
Travel management platform Goodwings, which bills itself as a “climate-focused” SaaS platform, is the first partner to join the new SAF+ programme, embedding Squake’s API into its own tech infrastructure in order to automate SAF purchasing processes.
Travel management companies using the Squake platform – which include the likes of ATG Travel Worldwide and Reed & Mackay – can also now provide clients with “seamless access to SAF across their product offerings”, including as part of travel policies or within the booking process, according to the companies.
Launched in 2021 as part of Lufthansa's Innovation Hub, the Squake platform connects providers through a single application programming interface (API) to calculate carbon emissions from every part of a traveller’s journey, including flights and ground connection.
The climate start-up in June raised €3.5 million in funding to fuel further research and development and drive growth, bringing total funding to date to €5 million.
