Conferma Pay has appointed Jason Lalor as its new CEO following the payment specialist’s acquisition by Sabre last year.
Lalor joins Conferma from fellow payments firm Square International and his recruitment comes during a “pivotal year” as the company plans to build “new and enhanced digital capabilities” for virtual cards.
Conferma has already announced a partnership with Mastercard to accelerate the use of virtual cards for B2B payments in the travel industry. This deal also saw Mastercard take a minority stake in Conferma.
Before joining Square, Lalor worked at Mastercard for six years, as well as having previous stints at Barclaycard, American Express and Dell.
Roshan Mendis, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Sabre Travel Solutions, said: “Jason brings extensive commercial leadership experience and a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem. This will be integral in advancing our goal to accelerate the digitisation of business-to-business (B2B) travel payments.”
Conferma uses its technology to connect card issuers with TMCs, global distribution systems (GDSs) and online booking tools.
