Budget brand easyHotel has expanded into Ireland with the opening of its first hotel in Dublin.
The chain, which plans to double its current portfolio to 100 properties by 2026, has unveiled its first new hotel of 2023 in the Smithfield area of Dublin.
The opening of the new-build 160-room hotel in Ireland takes easyHotel up to 44 properties across Europe. The company’s performance in 2022 was boosted by “pent-up” demand from business travellers.
The chain, which is also highlighting its “low-carbon” credentials, operates a mixture of owned, franchised and leased hotels in 11 countries.
Karim Malak, easyHotel’s CEO, said: “It’s fantastic to be opening our first hotel in Ireland and the dynamic city of Dublin. We are looking forward to giving people affordable ways to experience it.
“I’m proud of our ability to offer people low-carbon stays which are friendlier towards the environment. Our compact hotel designs mean we use 15-20 per cent less carbon than the market average for each stay.”
EasyHotel said it is targeting “prime” European capitals in its expansion strategy with a hotel in Madrid opening in late 2022, which will be followed by further properties in Paris and Zurich during 2023.
