Radisson Hotel Group is to expand its presence in the UK with the hotel within London’s Twickenham Stadium becoming a Radisson RED property.
The current Marriott hotel, which forms part of the Rugby Union stadium’s South Stand, will become a Radisson later this year and will be fully rebranded as a Radisson RED property in 2025 following refurbishment.
Hotel management specialist Aimbridge Hospitality, which runs other Radisson properties around the globe, will take over the management of the Twickenham property from 1 April 2024.
The hotel, which will become known as Radisson RED Twickenham, will undergo a renovation of its 150 rooms and public spaces as part of this change. This work will also include the creation of a new “destination” restaurant, alongside a lobby and lounge bar. The property will remain open during the refurbishment.
Twickenham Stadium is run by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and is home to England’s Rugby Union team as well as hosting concerts and other events throughout the year. The hotel also features a range of meeting spaces for conferences and exhibitions.
Adela Cristea, Radisson’s vice president of business development for the UK, Ireland and Nordics, said: “We are thrilled to work with the Rugby Football Union on this hugely exciting project at this world class stadium.
“Our Radisson Red presence is ever growing in the UK, and London Twickenham is the ideal location for further expansion. We are looking forward to introducing the vibrancy of our upbeat Radisson RED brand to the local community.”
Mark Lynch, executive director of venue at the RFU, added: “This is the start of a strong working relationship between the RFU and Radisson. The plans in place are exciting and we can’t wait for future guests to experience what the hotel has to offer.
“Both Aimbridge Hospitality and Radisson RED align with the visions and aspirations of the RFU for the Twickenham Stadium hotel, so it's a relationship that I'm sure will prosper over the coming years.”
